With more than 12 years experience, professional hunter and outfitter Willem van der Merwe and Chacma Safaris has the means and ability to help you find and hunt the animals you desire. He qualified as a professional hunter in 1996 but has been hunting from the age of 7. His experience in the African bush and his extensive knowledge of animal behaviour is a result of ground work laid by his grandfather.

On their farm in the North West Province of South Africa. He grew up with a rifle in one hand and a dog by his side. From this grew a calm, relaxed yet passionate hunter that wants to share his knowledge and experience to make it unforgettable for everyone.

As an outfitter he shows a dedication to his business that can only be matched by his love for the bush and hunting. Ask him what is his favorite animal to hunt and after a long and passionate story you’ll realize it’s not the animals but the hunt.

We have a wide range of packages from which to choose, or we simply tailor make a package to suit the needs of our clients. The diversity and quantity of animals in South Africa enables a visit to the country to be an exhilarating experience for all. Your family, friends and guests that accompany you on your hunt are just as important to us. Special arrangements will be made to accommodate their needs if it’s not already catered for. Day trips, photographic safaris or extended tours to other regions and tourist attractions can be arranged on request. Charters, local flights, car rental, transfers and accommodation are also included in Chacma Safaris’ services.

Our professional hunters, trackers, skinners and lodge staff are individually trained to meet your highest expectations and your prized trophies will be treated with the same degree of professionalism as the actual hunt. We have taxidermists in South Africa and abroad ready to take care of your trophies.

After an exciting day in the African bush, guests may regale in a sundowner accompanied by a host of birds and animals as they prepare to settle down for the evening. If the hunting carried on till dark the hunters can get back to a warm, inviting fire and specially prepared meals. Chacma’s speciality meals are composed of traditional South African dishes, which are complimented by a wide selection of local, hand picked wines. All meals may be custom-prepared according to guests’ specific requirements.
